Your Stripe report gives you a detailed view of how your donations and payouts are processed. This guide walks you through each part of the report so you can feel confident understanding your campaign finances.
Payout Groups
To find the transactions associated with a payout, you can filter all transactions with the same payout ID. You’ll find this ID in the “Campaign ID/Payout ID” column and in the payout summary at the bottom of the sheet.
In some cases, the system won’t be able to logically link transactions to a payout. This can be the case when there is a manual payout. Don’t worry—that just means the payout doesn’t link perfectly to the donation amounts, but you can still follow the sequence of donations and payouts.
For example, two $100 donations might be paid out as $150 and $50. In this case, the $150 includes all of one donation and part of another, while the $50 covers the rest. You can review the donation breakdown to follow along.
Charidy Fee
You might notice some charges show a net of $0. That’s because Charidy deducts its full campaign fee across multiple donations, after Stripe takes its gateway fee.
If your campaign has a $10,000 Charidy fee, the system will apply it donation by donation until it’s fully covered. After that, no more Charidy fees will be taken from additional donations.
This method also applies to:
-
Flat-rate fees
-
3rd party vendor fees
-
Offline or other alternative payment methods
Some giving days or events may have different fee structures—your Campaign Manager can help clarify anything specific to your campaign.

Page 2: Donation Breakdown
This tab dives into each transaction. Here’s what each column means:
-
A. Stripe Account: The Stripe account id of the transaction. This will be the same for all transactions on the same tab. For example, acct_1A2AyFEiIkBftAXp.
-
B. Transaction ID: Stripe’s unique charge ID (starts with
ch_) that can be linked to the transaction ID listed on the donation export that can be generated from the organization Dashboard. -
C. Created Date: The date stamp of when the transaction was created. If it’s a charge (donation) then this is the date the charge was captured. This can be different from the date of the donation (which will appear on the donations export) since in many cases a donation is first authorized and only later captured.
-
D. Available/Deposit Date: For charges, this is the date the funds become available in Stripe to pay out to a bank. If the Stripe account is on an automatic payout schedule, the deposit is typically sent on this date, though if it’s not a business day, it will be delayed until the next business day. For payout transactions, this is the date the payout was sent to the bank.
-
E. Payout Group: Payout ID for this transaction. All transactions that are part of the same payout will have the same ID in the payout group field.
-
F. Campaign ID / Payout ID: The Charidy campaign ID associated with the transaction. In the case of payout transactions, this is the id of the payout.
-
G. Payout Type: This lists the type of payout. Typically it will be an automatic payout, but in some cases, there are manual payouts. Automatic payouts are created by Stripe and have a strict association with transactions that are included in the payout. Manual payouts are done by Charidy finance, and may not be directly linked to specific transactions, since it can be an arbitrary amount from the available balance. However, we will try to logically link previous transactions to these payouts.
- H. Net - The net amount of the donation or payout. In the case of charges, the net is the amount after fees have been deducted.
- I. Currency - The currency that the charge was settled in. This is the currency of the bank account listed on the account. The actual charge can be in a different currency, but it will be converted by Stripe to this currency in order to be sent to the bank.
- J. Payout Status - A payout can be in pending or in-transit status before it is actually deposited to the bank. It’s also possible to have failed (for incorrect account information) or have been canceled. This is the status at the time the report was generated.
- K. Transaction Type - The transaction can be a payout (listed as a transfer), one-time donation, recurring donation, charge-back (refund), etc.
- L. Name - The name listed on the card used. It may not always be available.
- M. Donation ID - The donations ID as it’s recorded in Charidy’s system. Not all transactions may have a Charidy ID listed here, specifically recurring donations, since they are handled differently, but the donation ID will be listed in the export from the organization dashboard. You can still match the transaction ID with the donations in the export.
- N. Payment Type - The type of payment method (usually credit card)
- O. Brand - The brand of the credit card used (Visa, Amex, etc.)
- P. Last 4 - Shows the last 4 digits of the credit card used.
- Q. Donated Amount - The amount charged on the card (before any fees or conversion to the bank currency).
- R. Stripe Fee - The fee the gateway deducts for processing this charge.
- S. Charidy Fee - The amount Charidy deducted from the charge toward the total fee of the campaign. This amount is not specific to this transaction, and may not be a specific percentage. See notes.
- T. Refund Charges - The amount refunded, if this is a refund transaction.
- U. Refund Fee - The amount of the fees that were refunded, if this is a refund transaction.
- V. Charge Currency - The actual currency of the charge. For example, say someone donates in EUR and it is converted by Stripe to USD (if that is the bank’s currency). In such a case “donated_amount” would show the USD amount and “charged amount” shows the EUR amount.
- W. Charged Amount - The amount charged in the “charge currency”.
- X. Exchange Rate - If the charged amount was in a different currency from the bank’s currency, this shows the rate Stripe used to convert it to the bank’s currency.
